If you had told me when I was 19 that twenty years later I’d be advocating tarot as one of the best tools on your belt for growth and confidence, I’m not gonna lie to you – I’d have laughed my ass off! I was a full on atheist who believed only in science.
And to be fair, I still do truly believe in science, it’s just that with more life experience under my belt – along with over ten years of working with tarot – I’ve realised there’s a *lot* that scientists haven’t discovered yet.
On top of that? Tarot doesn’t have to be woo-woo. I mean, I love the incense, the beautiful aesthetics on posts you see, and yeah, meditation is really helpful for a lot of people, myself included when I actually remember to do it! *cough* But realistically, when I decide I want to read the cards, I read them. Even if that means grabbing my deck, shaking the cookie crumbs off the blanket I’ve been cosied up with, and just going straight into a reading – quick and dirty, and straight to the point.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, using tarot and oracle cards can be done however *you* want to. You’re in charge of the readings you do for yourself, and you get to decide what those meanings are referring to within your life. They could be a confirmation that you’re on the right path, or they could be the change in perspective you need to take a step back and reassess.
Most of all though, what the last twenty years has taught me is this: nothing is stuck in stone. Whether it’s a scientific theory, or me changing my mind about my favourite damn colour! There are very few things in life that can only be done one specific way, and that includes reading the cards.
I guess the whole point in this is to say: whether you’re reading cards for the first time, or the thousandth time, what matters is how YOU perceive them, just like you live your life YOUR way. And I don’t know about you? But I’m all for shining that light whatever colour it might be!
